Caroline from The Belle Abroad here to share my best packing tips for those city break holidays, you know the ones where you only want a carry on! No matter the length of your holiday, believe me when I say, it is possible to narrow your 'necessities' down to just one carry on. And I say believe me because if I can do it, anyone can do it!
My first and most important tip is to plan ahead...look at weather and be realistic! If it's calling for rain, don't bring impractical shoes, just in case it stops raining. Is it calling for cold weather? No need to bring a light sundress, just in case a warm front rolls in. Plan ahead each outfit for each day, based on the realistic reports of the weather. Also, I have to write down (by write down I mean type down in my phone!) the specific outfits I have planned because I can tend to get a little spontaneous with my choices and all of sudden I'm left with some seriously not matching pieces.
Here is an example of what I would pack for 2 weeks in my CalPak Winton Carry-On Luggage:
Also, when traveling with just a carry on, be sure to wear your heaviest, thickest clothes and shoes on the flight!
Next...yes, all your clothes, underwear, swimsuits, etc are important BUT the one thing I am making sure fits in my bag is my camera. Did you even go on vacation if theres no pictures to share?! I'll rewear pants all week until my camera fits in that bag. Or where it around my neck on the plane like an accessory.
Now this is a less important travel tip but I really enjoy the fresh, clean smell of opening my luggage when I arrive..so I slide a dryer sheet in when packing!
I also love to collect small, travel size bathroom items, especially those tiny perfume samples! It's perfect for these trips when you pack light.
